When Is Probate Needed in Arizona?

Probate may be required when someone dies owning assets that cannot be transferred to the people entitled to receive them without court authority.

The deceased person owned a home or other real estate in their name
Bank or investment accounts remain solely in the deceased person's name
There are assets with no surviving joint owner or beneficiary designation
Someone needs legal authority to collect, manage, sell, or transfer estate property
A will exists, but someone still needs to be appointed to handle the estate (Personal Representative)
